What is Titan?

The Titan procedure is the first non-surgical light-based system approved by the FDA for the safe treatment of lax and/or redundant skin. The Titan procedure uses infrared light to tighten skin and reverse the signs of aging. This procedure is a great way to safely fight wrinkles and other signs of aging without incisions, injections, or bothersome downtime.

How does it work?

The Titan procedure works by heating the natural water in your dermis, your deepest layer of skin. This heat rises to a very specific temperature, which causes natural collagen production. During the procedure the epidermis, your top layer of skin, is protected through continuous contact cooling. This long-term collagen rebuilding process leaves you with tighter, younger looking skin on the face, neck and body.

Light energy is applied to your skin in a series of gentle pulses. Photons of this light energy are absorbed in the layers of skin where collagen is produced. This triggers a repair mechanism which begins to rebuild and replenish your own natural collagen.

The new collagen growth improves and softens the appearance of scars, smile lines, sagging, and stretch marks, all from the inside out. Wrinkles, sagging, and down-turned corners of your lips noticeably improve. Smile lines are diminished. Acne scars are improved. Titan heats tissue under the skin’s surface so patients of any skin type or age can be treated. Dr. Blumenstrauch and his medical staff at Dermatology Group of Southern California will advise you if Titan is right for you.

What do Titan treatments feel like?

With each Titan pulse you will feel a brief heating sensation. Some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Many patients are comfortable without any medication.

How many treatments will I need?Although a single treatment has produced very good results for many patients, it is quite common for patients to have two or three treatments over a few months. Dr. Blumenstrauch and his medical staff at Dermatology Group of Southern California can advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results.

What happens after the treatment?

Immediately following the treatment you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours.

When can I return to normal activities?

There is no downtime with the Titan procedure. Most patients resume normal activities right away.

When will I see results?

In many patients some results of Titan can be seen after the first few weeks, but it usually takes up to 6 months before the full benefits are observed.

How long will my results last?

Remarkably, the Titan procedure reawakens and encourages long term healthy collagen production or your own collagen, so even after the treatment, your skin continues to renew and replenish itself naturally. Collagen production can continue for at least six months after your last treatment before reaching a plateau of steady repair work. Because the natural aging process is of course continuing, it is difficult to state precisely how long results will last, but benefits seem apparent for several years. Sun protection and attention to skin care are necessary to maintain optimal results.
